Recognising that structured, play-based learning before a child starts school is the key to building crucial social, emotional and cognitive skills, the NSW government has announced the Start Strong program to begin in 2023.
The Start Strong program aims to deliver at least 600 hours of affordable, quality preschool education to each Australian child aged four and over who is enrolled in eligible preschool and long day care services in NSW.
The program will deliver the extra funding to achieve this goal in two parts, by providing:
- additional funding directly to long day care services and Multifunctional Aboriginal Children’s Services (MACS) specifically to support children aged 4 and above; and,
- fee relief funding to families as a weekly reduction in their session fee or gap fee (after the Child Care Subsidy has been applied). The fee relief will save families up to $2,110 a year in childcare costs for 4-5 year-old children in eligible long day care programs.
All Kids World Kindy centres are approved long day care facilities that will be eligible for the Start Strong program. We view each of the children in our care as successful, competent and capable learners, and laying the foundation to put each child on the road to a lifetime of learning is our privilege and our focus. Extra support and funding from the government will be extremely valuable in helping us achieve these goals.
